PRIMARY FUNCTION
Provide live, error free transmission feeds and related technical support to over four dozen international media outlets during a high profile event.
 
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • he Media Center provides the press with feeds from open meetings and press conferences through a centralized distribution rack in the Media Center.  The Media Center Support Technician will thoroughly familiarize him/herself with the operation of the distribution rack and be a general technical problem-solver for the visiting international press, assisting them in a courteous and timely manner as needed.
  • Ability to set up, playback and record from a variety of video and audio sources 
  • Understand signal flow and be able to provide basic troubleshooting for audiovisual and IT equipment 
  • Report system anomalies, equipment problems, customer relations issues or any other daily event concerns that arise 
  • Perform other duties as assigned
 
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Good knowledge of current AV & VC industry practices, standards and procedures 
  • General knowledge of audio video patching is essential along with the ability to read and interpret system diagrams and schematics
  • Thorough understanding of various audio and video connectors to connect to recording devices
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic IT issues such as network connectivity, computer configuration, and video editing software
  • An understanding of NTSC and PAL, HD, SD, broadcast and “pro-sumer” cameras and recording devices is required.
  • Ability to thrive in a multicultural and multilingual environment
  • Ability to read, speak and effectively communicate in English; Bilingual in other languages a plus
 
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Audio/Electronic Engineering or related field preferred; or Technical school training with electronics training and related experience
  • InfoComm CTS certification a plus 
  • 3+ years of experience with the setup, operation and troubleshooting of conference rooms, auditoriums, theater, hotels and/or broadcast environment

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • The United Nations provides the Media Center for international accredited press attending the annual General Assembly/General Debate at UN Headquarters in New York during September.  The Media Center provides the press with feeds from open meetings and press conferences through a centralized distribution rack in the Media Center.  The Media Center Support Technician will thoroughly familiarize him/herself with the operation of the distribution rack and be a general technical problem-solver for the visiting international press, assisting them in a courteous and timely manner as needed.
