|Director of Engineering and Technology Operations|
The Director of Engineering & Technology Operations will provide leadership for a multi-disciplinary team and be responsible for management of all technical engineering and broadcast operations functions. These include all broadcast and IT systems, equipment and building maintenance, engineering and IT personnel management, capital and operating budgets and vehicles. This position requires a strong leader with an ability to direct and motivate technical and operations staff.
Varied and extended hours may include some weekends, holidays, and required travel.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
ñ Develop and implement current and long-range technical operation plans with an emphasis on emerging technology and competitive ENG
ñ Responsible/accountable for full project lifecycle management of engineering buildouts and cross-disciplinary technical projects
ñ Oversee the management and development of engineering and operations personnel
ñ Establish procedures and standards for operations and maintenance of equipment and proper studio operations
ñ Owns departmental relationships with vendors, third party contractors and systems integrators who perform physical installations in broadcast origination technical centers and IT data centers.
ñ Responsible for compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulations as well as all company policies and procedures
ñ Maintains an awareness of standard methodologies in the technology industry and implements forward-looking best of breed solutions
ñ Other duties as directed.
ñ Demonstrates broad experience in the detailed design, build, and commissioning of technical systems including linear broadcast playout, video compression, live streaming, content workflow management, content ingest, storage, transformation, IP networks including multicast, WAN video distribution, file delivery and acceleration, with the ability to identify and leverage technical experts in different specialized fields.
ñ Demonstrates knowledge of IP (SMPTE ST 2022 and ST2110) and baseband UHD/HD/SD video, IP (AES67) audio, transport stream distribution, video/audio encoding, OTT streaming architectures and technologies, advanced IP networking including multicast and video contribution/distribution.
ñ Demonstrates experience leading a team, including driving employee growth and professional development
ñ Demonstrates experience working in a Production environment, supporting studio and remote operations
ñ Demonstrates knowledge of virtualization platforms and cloud based services
ñ 8 – 10 years working experience leading broadcast engineering teams on large scale projects
ñ Strong IT networking skills
ñ Ability to work in a fast paced, changing, team oriented environment and possess a “hands on” management style.
ñ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
ñ BA/BS or equivalent work experience
