Photography Assistant/ Technician
San Antonio, TX

Primary Function

Work closely with Photographer to capture still images for events and activity of high-level corporate executives in a standard office setting, on the road, run and gun or documentary-style and other settings as needed

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as a second set of eyes and soundboard to the Photographer
  • Determine appropriate camera settings, light and shoot with attention to detail and an eye for the edit
  • Serve as an ingest technician when the Photographer is tethered directly to the laptop for image import
  • Wrangle talent and obtain talent releases as needed
  • Serve as second shooter when needed
  • Interface and communicate with colleagues and internal clients to assess photography needs
  • Work with photographer and team to deliver the highest quality product with the most effective customer service
  • Carefully follow direction and guidance from photographer and internal team to ensure compliance in capturing images
  • Continue to develop skill set and eventually evolve into the role of a primary photographer

Skills & Qualifications

  • Command of modern digital still photography (portraiture, commercial, editorial), equipment, lighting and processes
  • Proficient with photo editing software, specifically Adobe applications
  • Excellent management of high pressure situations
  • Ability to work effectively with senior management, creative colleagues and clients in a corporate environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Careful attention to detail
  • Professional presence and superior client relationship skills
  • Energy, enthusiasm and initiative
  • Commitment to excellence and staying current with new technologies and techniques

Education & Experience

  • 3-4 years of experience in Photography, Photojournalism
  • Experience in a corporate, formal setting and interfacing with executive-level talent
  • Samples of work available electronically for review
